Privacy Policy
Version 2026-05-24 · Effective 24 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how AMI Experts ("we", "us"), operated for and in association with Australian Marketing Institute, handles personal information when you use the directory, view an expert's profile or pages, or contact an expert. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Information we collect
Expert accounts: when an expert participates, we hold membership details sourced from our membership system (such as name, email and membership level) and the profile content the expert chooses to publish (bio, photo, links, and any contact details they elect to display).
Visitor enquiries: if you submit an enquiry through an expert's contact form, we collect the name, email and message you provide so the enquiry can be delivered to that expert.
Usage analytics: we record coarse, non-identifying activity (such as profile and page views) using a one-way, daily-rotating hash. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies and do not build profiles of visitors.
Essential cookies only: a sign-in session cookie for experts, and a cookie recording acceptance of the Expert Terms. No third-party advertising cookies are set.
2. How we use information
We use personal information to operate the directory and expert profiles, authenticate experts, deliver enquiries to the relevant expert, administer membership and billing, maintain the security of the service, and improve it.
3. Disclosure and service providers
Enquiries you submit are forwarded to the expert you contacted, who is then independently responsible for that information. We use trusted service providers to run the platform — including our membership system and cloud hosting, database, file-storage and email providers — who process information on our behalf.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where required by law.
4. Experts are independent controllers
Each expert is responsible for the personal information they collect through their own profile and pages, including how they respond to and store enquiries. Experts agree to handle that information lawfully under the AMI Experts Expert Terms.
5. Retention
We keep account and profile information for as long as the membership or profile is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Enquiries submitted through contact forms are kept for 30 days and then automatically deleted.
6. Your rights
You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information. Experts can update most information via their dashboard or membership account. Others can contact the relevant expert, or contact us through the usual membership channel, and we will respond consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy from time to time; the effective date and version above indicate the current version. Questions about privacy can be raised through your usual membership contact channel.
